ASTI Environmental, a Division of PEA Group, Marks 40 Years with Leadership Transition

2 min read

ASTI Environmental, a division of PEA Group, is celebrating 40 years of environmental leadership with a significant milestone—the appointment of Jaime Timmins-Bertan as Director of Environmental Services. Jaime succeeds Tom Wackerman, ASTI’s founder and a leading voice in environmental consulting for the past four decades.

Wackerman established ASTI 40 years ago with Peter Collins, building it into a respected firm recognized for its expertise in environmental due diligence, remediation, and regulatory consulting. His leadership, along with his partner Dianne Martin, has influenced projects across the region, state, and country. Since ASTI’s acquisition by PEA Group in 2024, he has served as interim Director, guiding the firm through a seamless transition.

“Tom’s impact on the environmental industry and his dedication to ASTI cannot be overstated,” said Jeff Smith, Vice President at PEA Group. “We are incredibly grateful for his leadership and are excited to see ASTI’s legacy continue under Jaime’s direction.”

Jaime brings over two decades of experience in environmental consulting and project management, most recently serving as a Program Regional Manager at AECOM, where she oversaw remediation projects of all sizes across multiple states. She has extensive expertise in regulatory advocacy, strategic planning, and business development and holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and Biology, and an MBA.

As ASTI enters its next 40 years, Jaime will lead the firm’s Environmental Division, overseeing the environmental departments, ensuring strong operational performance, and strengthening client relationships. She will work alongside Dianne Martin, who continues to lead ASTI’s Ecological Division. Tom Wackerman will continue to serve as an advisor to the firm and select clients.

“I am honored to step into this role at such a pivotal moment for ASTI,” said Jaime. “The firm’s reputation for technical excellence and client service is unmatched, and I look forward to building on that strong foundation.”

As ASTI celebrates four decades of success, the firm remains committed to its mission of delivering forward-thinking environmental solutions with innovation, impact, and dedication. This transition represents the next step in ASTI’s continued growth and its commitment to serving clients and communities for years to come.
