Circle Track Reconstruction Recognized by ACPA
The General Motors Corporation Circle Track Reconstruction for Milford Proving Grounds was selected as an award winner in the “Industrial Paving” category by the American Concrete Pavement Association (ACPA). PEA designed the track in 2015. The rebuilt Circle Track is a 4.5-mile banked circle. It has five lanes with speed limits that increase towards the outermost lane. The speed limit for the outermost lane is more than 100 MPH. Due to the incline, each lane can be driven at its posted speed all the way around the circle without adjusting the steering wheel. The track surface is hard “dolomite” concrete for wear resistance. The ACPA “Excellence in Concrete Pavement” awards honor quality concrete pavements constructed, rehabilitated, and preserved in the United States and Canada. There were 29 projects honored in 15 categories after competing locally and nationally with hundreds of excellent projects.
