Houston Area Women’s Center Ribbon-Cutting
PEA Group is honored to contribute to the Houston Area Women’s Center (HAWC) project, a vital initiative dedicated to supporting survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence. Located on a 5.5-acre campus in Houston, Texas, the newly developed center provides a safe and supportive environment for individuals and their children as they rebuild their lives.
The $45 million facility features 135 housing units, a crisis and assessment center, and a skills hub designed to empower residents with new opportunities. The project officially broke ground in May 2024, and on March 28, 2025, HAWC celebrated the opening of its doors with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
PEA Group played a key role in the project, providing civil engineering services to ensure compliance with City of Houston regulations. The development was initiated in 2021 to grandfather detention requirements before regulatory changes took effect. Throughout 2024, our team remained actively engaged, navigating budget constraints while meeting city requirements.
The project, designed by GSMA, will have a lasting impact on the Houston community by offering a secure space for women in need. PEA Group is proud to be part of this meaningful effort to create a safe and supportive future for survivors. PEA Group is looking forward to continuing its collaboration with the development team, recognizing that further efforts are required to effectively address this issue.
