Introducing PEA Group’s newest Professional Engineer, Jonathan Puffer. Jon passed his professional engineering exam, earning his professional engineering license in the State of Texas.

Jon first took the professional engineer (PE) license exam in 2018 and then again in 2019. Though he did not pass his first two attempts, he was not discouraged. He preserved, and, after three attempts, Jon passed the exam in December of 2021.

Determined, Jon registered for a PE exam prep course, Engineering Education & Training (EET), sacrificing evenings and weekends. The program included lectures, solving practice problems, and taking multiple practice exams. Jon found that the simulation exams were the most effective in preparing him for the actual exam.

On the day of the exam, Jon arrived at the testing facility early in the morning to begin the 8-hour test. The exam covered general civil engineering and discipline-specific questions, including geotechnical engineering, water resources, and transportation.

Jon has had the ambition to become a licensed engineer for quite some time. He felt ready for the exam, believing he had the proper knowledge and understanding of civil engineering to pass the exam this time around.

Now officially licensed, Jon can practice more facets of engineering such as approving the civil engineering design and specification of permit plans, construction documents, reports, and other related documents.

While it took him nearly eight years to receive his PE seal, Jon doesn’t find the time spent achieving that goal was in vain, regardless of the hard work and dedication. Rather, he sees becoming a licensed engineer as a privilege. Jon believes that having a PE license puts includes him in a class of professionals that seek to innovate, design, and built infrastructure that improves the quality of people’s lives and promotes the safety and welfare of the public. He states, “I am honored to be a part of this class of professionals.”
