PEA Group Named a 2021 ‘Cool Place to Work’ By Crain’s Detroit Business

PEA Group is excited to announce that, for the third year in a row, we have been selected as a finalist in the Cool Places to Work in Michigan by Crain’s Detroit Business and Best Companies Group. This annual installment recognizes the best places of employment across the state of Michigan. The two-part process is based on a variety of factors, including corporate policies, practices, and demographics, as well as employee satisfaction and employee benefits, which were identified through a survey completed by PEA Group team members. This honor comes at a gratifying time as our company continues to make great strides and grow.

Even in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, our staff has continued to grow. Since 2020, we have seen a 20% increase in staff, totaling 141 employees across our five offices.

To ensure we uphold our commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion at PEA Group, the Diversity and Inclusion Committee was established earlier this year. The Committee meets regularly and is tasked with reviewing and developing strategies and practices to support a diverse workplace. This committee is leading PEA Group’s efforts to build and maintain an inclusive environment where differences of opinion, beliefs, and values are sought, listened to, respected, and valued.

An additional policy PEA Group rolled out this year is our new Volunteer Time Off (VTO) policy. The VTO policy allows all regular full-time and part-time employees to volunteer up to eight hours per calendar year with a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit, or an equivalent organization that is in accordance with PEA Group guidelines. Already this year, there have been 50 hours of VTO utilized since this policy has been in place. PEA Group team members are committed to bettering the communities we live and work in.

To support our growing staff count, our Brighton, Michigan office expanded. As we were nearing capacity in our first-floor suite, we are now leasing a suite on the second floor. This addition adds approximately 3,500 square feet of available workspace including six new private offices, six workstations, a conference room, and a break room. This new suite will house our landscape architecture group and provides more room for growth with more staff to follow in the future.

Earlier this year, we expanded our services to Texas through mergers with two Houston-based civil engineering firms. Since these acquisitions, our Houston office staff has grown by over 35%. Additionally, we have expanded our services in Houston to include in-house surveying. This month, we saw the opening of our new Texas office, serving as a hub for PEA Group to better address the needs of the Houston area.

All of these exciting changes arise as PEA Group celebrates one year of a rebrand. On July 7th, 2020, we unveiled a new logo, website, and a new name. With almost 75 years of experience within the industry, PEA Group is rapidly expanding, and Crain’s selection highlights the changes we have embraced and the work we have done to better our company, clients, and employees.

PEA Group would like to thank Crain’s Detroit Business and Best Companies Group for this honor. We would also like to thank our team for their participation in completing the survey, as well as their daily participation. Here at PEA Group, we value diligence, clarity, creativity, and partnership. We believe that everyone has a voice at the table, and each person brings something unique to our overall goal of leaving a positive impact. We are proud to have made an impact and have our voice heard.
