Pomeroy Living Northville was in need of a memory care garden designed to help patients flourish. Designing and detailing with their needs in mind, a memory care garden can have a substantial impact on the health and quality of life for an individual suffering from Alzheimer’s or dementia. To enrich the living experience, we were contracted to design a 19,000-square-foot memory care garden for the courtyard.
PEA Group completed surveying, civil engineering, and landscape plans for the senior care facility specializing in memory care, primarily serving Alzheimer’s and dementia patients. The design included evidence-based elements to help improve the physical and emotional well-being of the residents. The garden includes wayfinding elements, a walking path, fountain, vegetable garden, and familiar home-like elements such as “front yard” and “back yard” areas with traditional garden elements and furniture.
