Champion Forest has been a beloved church in its community for nearly three decades. However, as the congregation continued to grow, their main chapel and adjacent courtyard needed a modern update to better serve their expanding needs. To address these challenges, PEA Group collaborated with the church on a plaza redesign.
Our first task was to remove the existing landscaping and evaluate the existing courtyard, which no longer met the growing congregation’s needs. Our team worked closely with the church to create an outdoor gathering space that seamlessly integrates with the main chapel. The new courtyard now functions as an extension of the chapel, providing a space for seasonal outdoor community events and a gathering place before and after services every week.
Our team incorporated various elements into the new courtyard design to achieve this goal. Shade sails were installed to provide relief from the Texas sun, while synthetic turf and paver patios created a comfortable and inviting space for people to gather. We also included raised Corten steel planters and in-ground planter beds to add greenery and color to the area.
In addition to these elements, we provided outdoor furniture and string lighting to create a welcoming atmosphere, day or night. The result is a beautifully updated courtyard that meets the needs of Champion Forest Baptist Church’s growing community and provides a space for fellowship and community building.
