PEA Group provided civil engineering services for the Houston Area Women’s Center (HAWC), a 5.5-acre campus in Houston, Texas, designed to support survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence. Contracted by GSMA, our team ensured compliance with City of Houston regulations, addressing key infrastructure needs while maintaining project feasibility.
The $45 million facility includes 135 housing units, a crisis assessment center, and a skills hub aimed at empowering residents. The project was initiated in 2021 to grandfather detention requirements before regulatory changes took effect, and our team remained actively engaged throughout 2024, navigating budget constraints while meeting city standards. Construction began in May 2024, and HAWC officially opened on March 28, 2025.
