Huron-Clinton Metropark Feasibility Study

Livingston, Macomb, Oakland, Washtenaw, and Wayne Counties, Michigan

To further their mission of providing safe and equal access to their 13 parks, the Huron-Clinton Metropark Authority (HCMA) retained PEA Group and The Greenway Collaborative (TGC) to develop the final non-motorized connections between their parks in five areas:

  1. Lower Huron to the I-275 Metrotrail
  2. Hudson Mills to Huron Meadows
  3. Kensington to Indian Springs
  4. Indian Springs to Stony Creek
  5. Wolcott Mills to Stony Creek via the Macomb Orchard Trail

In total, the five routes span over 70 miles and will establish a non-motorized connection between all 13 Metroparks.

PEA Group and TGC conducted an in-depth investigation of each project area, including site visits, studying GIS data and ROW maps, and speaking with local stakeholders. Public input was gathered through an online survey, which received almost 2,200 responses. The five preferred routes received overwhelming support. Our team has developed the engineering plans and cost estimates, with plans to finish in August 2024. We have also developed the phasing plans for each project area and discussed the appropriate grant applications to advance the projects through construction.
