New Hope Housing Reed

Houston, Texas

New Hope Housing Reed is an affordable apartment community owned and operated by a local Houston non-profit, New Hope Housing, Inc. The Reed development is the organization’s first property to serve formerly homeless families with children. Prior to opening Reed, New Hope Housing’s mission focused on the development of single-room occupancy (SRO) housing, which is for individuals living on low incomes. With the opening of Reed, they expanded their mission to include one, two, and three-bedroom apartment homes, with Reed having a total of 187 units.

PEA Group, formerly known as Brewer Engineering, was engaged to conduct the civil engineering of this project. A four-story, 187-unit apartment community, New Hope Housing Reed is situated on 6.8-acres in southwest Houston off Highway 288 and Reed Road. It is located immediately adjacent to The Star of Hope Mission’s Women & Family Development Center.

New Hope Housing Reed represents a highly efficient complex of interrelated support and housing services designed to uplift and stabilize the lives of families from generational poverty. Reed’s shared community spaces include a private courtyard with a playground, a business center with computers, libraries for children of all ages, an enrichment room for educational programs, a training room, a food market, and so much more.
