Romulus Amazon Warehouse

Romulus, Michigan

PEA Group was called to design the site for the new 850,000-squarefoot Amazon warehouse facility in Romulus. The 80-acre site required over 2,000 parking spaces for over 1,500 employees, 64 truck docks, and truck trailer parking for more than 200 trucks.

Substantial site engineering was needed to accommodate the 1,500-foot-long building and truck circulation. The project involved the removal of a portion of a county drain and permitting with the
MDEQ and EPA for wetland impacts. It also included the relocation of an ITC power line. During the project, our team interfaced with two consultants on traffic and roadway improvements to support
the client. Throughout the design process, the high-profile tenant was kept confidential while an aggressive design and construction schedule was achieved.

The facility is now open, shipping three million packages during a normal week. The Romulus Amazon was the fourth facility developed in Michigan.
