Sheetz Fraser

Fraser, Michigan

PEA Group worked on constructing a new Sheetz gas station and restaurant on the site of the former State Bank of Fraser. The bank was originally founded in 1910 and was regarded a local landmark by the Fraser community. Although the property had remained vacant for several years, previous redevelopment efforts were abandoned due to community opposition to removing the historic State Bank Building. Neighboring residents also expressed concerns about a gas station being located so close to their homes.

Our team provided project design from conception through record drawings and assisted in community outreach, entitlements, and permitting.

Through collaboration with city officials, Sheetz was able to develop a unique showpiece site that included a memorial plaza on the corner of Utica Road and 14-mile Road, incorporating portions of the former State Bank façade and the stone eagle that once sat atop the bank building. The site also includes a picnic area available to a public near the pond.
