Waterford Community Center

Waterford Township, Michigan

PEA Group is providing civil engineering, land surveying, and landscape architecture services for the Waterford Community Center. The project is a redevelopment of the former Oakland Community College Highland Lakes Campus in Waterford Township, Michigan.

The project includes the renovation of the existing student center and physical education building, along with the demolition of three existing buildings. Right now, the project is progressing through multiple active phases, including construction document preparation, permitting assistance, bidding review and assistance, and construction administration. Due to the community college being unable to vacate all buildings before construction begins, our team developed a staged phasing approach to maintain operation throughout construction. Utilities were designed to allow the occupied buildings to maintain service while construction activities proceeded.

When complete, the site will provide an inviting and engaging community center, featuring a new gymnasium, community courtyard, accessible parking, an enclosed outdoor exercise area, four pickleball courts, two basketball courts, and additional amenities for the community.
