4 min read

Meet our second and final group of talented interns for Summer 2026! Representing different offices and disciplines across the company, this group is ready to gain real-world experience while supporting projects in civil engineering, land surveying, geotechnical engineering, and more.

Please join us in welcoming these amazing interns as we wrap up our 2026 spotlight series. Over the past two weeks, we have introduced all nine interns, each bringing a unique perspective to the team. We look forward to an eventful summer ahead for both our interns and the entire team!

Today, it’s not TGIF, it’s TGFI – Thank Goodness for Interns!

Ivy Ries | Surveying | Lansing, MI

My name is Ivy Ries, I am a rising sophomore at Calvin University, and I am majoring in Chemical Engineering with a minor in Geology. I am pursuing my major because I have always loved chemistry and doing projects, especially ones that take time and many phases before being completed. Chemical engineering was the perfect mix of these two passions of mine, so I decided to major in it. A fun fact about me is that I enjoy being outdoors and learning about the Earth we live in, which prompted me to pick up a minor in geology, which is what got me interested in my survey internship at PEA Group, due to a survey class I loved that I took last fall for my minor. I was attracted to an internship at PEA Group, because of how nice everyone I met at my interview was and how everyone is always open to questions and helping me learn more about surveying and PEA Group as a company. This is my first ever internship, so I am looking forward to being in the industry for the first time, as well as looking forward to helping projects progress and be built.

Vanessa Micallef | Civil Engineering | Brighton, MI

My name is Vanessa Micallef, and I will be entering my senior year at Michigan State University this fall, where I am pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. This summer is my second engineering internship and my first opportunity to work with PEA Group. One of the aspects I find most rewarding about civil engineering is its impact on the infrastructure people rely on every day, often without realizing the level of planning and design involved behind the scenes. I have been familiar with PEA Group since my freshman year and was immediately drawn to the company’s strong emphasis on professional development and mentorship at every level. I am excited to continue gaining hands-on experience and applying my knowledge to real world situations.

Hailey Douglas | Surveying | Brighton, MI (Welcome back!)

My name is Hailey Douglas, and I am a senior at Michigan Tech studying Geospatial Engineering. This is my third summer with the PEA Group surveying department. Previously, I worked a summer at two other engineering firms. This summer I am looking forward to building my confidence and independence in the field. A fun fact about me is I am restoring a motorcycle, and I hope to be driving it to the office soon!

Samantha Brazaski | Environmental Services | Brighton, MI

My name is Sammie Brazaski, and I am a junior at Michigan Tech studying Environmental Engineering. I chose this major to combine my love for the environment and engineering! I enjoy learning about all the ways we utilize the environment for our benefit and how to make that sustainable. This is my first internship, and I am very excited to learn more about what PEA Group and ASTI do to help businesses become more environmentally friendly. In my free time, I like to spend time with friends, read, craft, and spend time outdoors!
